Education for Nigeria’s orphans

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: "I and the person who looks after an orphan and provides for him, will be in Paradise like this," putting his index and middle fingers together. (Bukhari)

Help us return 50 orphaned children to school, covering the cost of their tuition, which provides them with the skills for a brighter future.

£50 /month – provide a child in Lagos with an education in a quality school.

The most vulnerable children

There are approximately 17.5 million orphan and vulnerable children in Nigeria. Orphans are one of the most vulnerable groups in any society, often at increased risk of abandonment, poor health, child labour, early, child and forced marriage and abuse. In Nigeria, it is estimated that 95% of all orphan and vulnerable children do not have any access to medical care or education.

Education can transform a child’s life. It gives them the ability to thrive and dream, and the tools and skills for an independent future. It can help break cycles of poverty and uplift entire communities. Unfortunately, Nigeria has the highest rate of out-of-school children, with 16 million children out of school.

When a child becomes an orphan by losing one or both parents, often their education is one of the first things to suffer. Without a breadwinner or family income, the child’s family simply cannot afford to send them to school.
